Humanity First USA Responding to Flint, MI

Water Crisis with our Water for Life Program

Update January 30, 2016:

Humanity First USA (HFUSA) has partnered with the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community of the Detroit Metropolitan area and doubled last’s week donation of 52,400 to 104,800 bottles of water for the Flint Water Crisis.

Water was delivered to the city of Flint, two senior citizen homes, a local YMCA, 3 churches, and to the Flint general public in need.

At the Salem Lutheran Church cars lined up down the street full of families in need of clean water.

The Mayor of Rochester Hills where Ahmadiyya Muslim Community is located, Honorable Bryan Barnett, was also present when HFUSA volunteers left Rochester Hills to make water deliveries.

When asked about his thoughts about HFUSA’s donation, he stated he was “Honored to support the Humanity First USA team as they loaded 100,000+ water bottles from Rochester Hills for the Flint Water Crisis.”

Also joining the Mayor in support of HFUSA’s Flint Water Crisis relief effort were City Council members Dale Hetrick and Susan Bowyer.

HFUSA is continuing to accept water donations locally in Rochester Hills, Troy, as well as the Detroit Metropolitan area accepting donations daily from 7 – 10 pm at Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, 1730 W. Auburn Rd, Rochester Hills, MI 48309.

 Update January 24, 2016:

On January 23rd, 2016 a team of 25 Humanity First USA’s volunteers distributed two truckloads of drinking water equaling more than 7,000 gallons or 52,400 bottles of water to the city of Flint, the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan, three senior citizen homes, 300 residences, and to the general public in need.

Humanity First USA volunteers included members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community USA and five employees of IBM in Lansing, MI who joined our team after hearing about this great initiative.   We have planned similar distributions over the next 2 weeks but we need YOUR help!  Humanity First is requesting generous support from its donors to help our fellow Americans in need.  Please donate generously.

The Problem:

The city of Flint, Michigan is the second most poverty-stricken city in America and is still suffering heavily from the recent economic depression.  Flint is also struggling with a major public health crisis caused by lead contamination of its water supply system. As a result, poverty-stricken citizens of Flint have been forced to cut down on their daily water consumption or buy expensive bottled drinking water. President Obama has declared a federal state of emergency and Michigan Governor Rick Snyder has also declared a state of emjergency as the Flint water crisis is expected to last for the next several months at a minimum.

Humanity First USA’s Disaster Response Team visited Flint for assessment purposes and is now coordinating relief efforts with the city officials and the National Guard who have been deployed by the Governor of Michigan to coordinate relief efforts.

Humanity First USA is working with Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, local governments, several local churches, businesses and community organizations to mobilize volunteers and donations to serve our fellow Americans in need.

The first of many planned consignments of more than 5,000 gallons of bottled water is expected to be delivered on Friday, January 22nd, 2016 and will be distributed door to door by Humanity First USA’s volunteer team alongside the National Guard.

Humanity First USA has established its field office and collection point for in-kind donations of cases/bottles of water at:
